Problem-Based Learning(PBL).....

3rd Entry

Today is Saturday,I have been coming back from UKM to my hometown for 2 days.I still have 8 days left for me to enjoy, but unfortunately there are too many obstacles.I do not intend to exaggerate, but that are too many things for us to do.'US' here refers to all first year student of UKM Law Faculty. I believe all of them will agree with me that we are all in the similar predicament. Why would I say that?I would explain it in the next paragraph.

After Hari Raya,we have several vital tasks ahead. We would have to present our Contract PBL,Constitution PBL and MLS(Malaysian Legal System)PBL,PBL here refers to Problem-Based Learning, which means we are given a task by each of our 3 core subjects lecturers, then we have to try to solve it in a group, which means this is a group task.

As each of us is given a task to perform in that group,I am also included.I am in the 12th group of the Contrat PBL and I am bestowed upon a task as the respondent's counsel, and we are going to perform our task in a moot court, which means we are going to present it like real lawyers, but of course, the whole process would not be as professional as them! This is the first time I am doing this thing and I am so nervous and happy. The nervous part is that I have not been exposed to this kind of stuff before because I was a STPM student. The happy part is that I get a chance to present a case like a real lawyer in the first year, for me that would definitely be a marvellous, impeccable and outstanding experience. But life is not a bed of roses, before we march into the 'court',there are still many preparations await us.We have to find cases to substantiate our arguement,we have to photocopy them. We also have to get authorities from other sources as well, such as books or articles, and the list goes on.I would say this is a transition period from secondary-style education at Form 6 to tertiary education in UKM!That's a really big difference that I could perceive, but I believe I will get used to it gradually.

For the Constitution PBL,we are doing the similar thing like PBL Contract. But for the MLS PBL,we are doing in a different way,we are doing video shooting which I think is very interesting and educational. We have to pick a case and we are going to react the case, which means that we are going to make a video based on the happenings of the case.We have our own roles in the video and we are actors within the video.I personally think this is an interactive learning because we got to learn a lot of things throughout the whole process. We got to learn to communicate well with teammates, learned interacting skills and mooting skills as well. After all,it was a wonderful learning experience.

As a conclusion,I enjoy every moment of my life in UKM,but I have to gradually get used to this hectic lifestyle.
